About Us

Our Mission

Badminton Without Boundaries (BwB) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to breaking down the barriers in competitive badminton and making the sport more accessible, inclusive, and green. Founded with a passion for promoting equitable play, our mission is to create a welcoming and supportive environment for players of all ages, skill levels, and backgrounds.

At BwB, we believe that competitive badminton should not be limited by expensive and carbon-intensive travel, rigid and stifling draws, and sparse frequency. That’s why we focus on organizing local tournaments and events across high schools and local clubs, providing a more accessible platform to compete.

Our goal is to eliminate the high barriers to entry often associated with competitive badminton, making it a more enjoyable and supportive experience for everyone. Through our tournaments and programs, we strive to:

  • Increase the frequency of local and carbon-friendly badminton tournaments.

  • Implement an in-house ranking system to encourage healthy competition.

  • Reduce costs and barriers associated with competitive badminton, growing badminton's national visibility.

Join us in reshaping the future of badminton—whether you're looking to compete, volunteer, or support our cause, there's a place for you in the BwB family.

What We Do:

  • Host local badminton tournaments and events.

  • Collaborate with high schools and clubs nation-wide to foster the sport's growth.

  • Track and publish our very own player rankings.

Our Initiatives

Local Tournaments

Providing Opportunities

We organize and run frequent badminton tournaments at local high schools and clubs. Our tournaments are 100% volunteer-ran and serve as low-barrier entry points into competitive badminton for players of all skill levels and ages. Through this initiative, we provide opportunities for experience and enjoyment, increase badminton's visibility in the community, and cut down significantly on the average carbon footprint of nationally chartered tournaments.

Community Engagement

Connecting Through Badminton

Through collaboration with local high schools and clubs, we envision a more diverse and participatory culture for badminton. From guest speakers to strategic donations, BwB interacts with the community to increase badminton's visibility to the general population and garner more interest in the sport. Through unique and continuous efforts to engage with our community, we strive to involve a wider demographic and far larger population of players into the thrilling sport of badminton

Internal Ranking System

Presenting Alternative Pathways

Taking a more technical approach, we have designed a BwB junior ranking system as an alternative to the widely regarded USAB junior ranking. Based solely on our own sanctioned tournaments, our solution is a localized version of the national ranking and includes players at the intermediate and high-school levels. This mechanism is still being tested and developed. One day, we envision localized ranking systems being implemented across a wide variety of locations and levels.

Long-Term Growth

Shifting the National Spotlight

Badminton does not yet garner the attention it deserves on the national stage. To spread our love of the sport to a wider audience, BwB advocates for numerous youth initiatives and assists in national strategy development. Harnessing the power of the existing badminton community, our goal is to share the thrill and exhilaration of the sport to as many people as possible.
